Triadic Colors

Three colors evenly spaced 120° apart on the wheel. Bold, balanced, and high-energy when used in branding.

Definition

A triadic palette uses three colors equidistant on the color wheel — each separated by 120°. Triadic palettes feel balanced because no single color dominates, but the spread also delivers high visual energy. The three primary colors (red, yellow, blue) form the most famous triadic palette. Modern brand triadics tend to use one dominant color (~60%) with the other two as ~30% and ~10% accents.

Formula

From base hue H: triadic = [H, H+120, H+240] (all mod 360).

Example

Red (0°), green (120°), blue (240°). Or: orange (30°), violet (150°), spring-green (270°).
